SEC Celebrates National Lineman Appreciation Day

CREWE, Va – On Monday, April 11, 2016, Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) is proud to honor the hardworking men and women who endure challenging conditions to keep our lights on. Joining electric co-ops across our nation, SEC proudly observes the second Monday in April as National Lineman Appreciation Day.

SEC recognizes all electric line personnel for the services they perform around the clock to keep power flowing and protect the public’s safety. To honor our co-op linemen, SEC’s Board of Directors recently passed the following Resolution of Appreciation:

WHEREAS SEC line workers leave their families and put their lives on the line every day to keep the power on;

WHEREAS SEC line workers work 365 days a year under hazardous conditions to build, maintain and repair our electrical infrastructure;

WHEREAS SEC line workers are the first responders of the electric cooperative family, restoring power and making things safe for all after storms and accidents; and

WHEREAS there would be no electric cooperatives without the brave men and women who comprise our corps of line workers;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Southside Electric Cooperative recognizes the second Monday of April as National Lineman Appreciation Day to recognize the contributions of these valuable men and women to SEC and electric cooperatives across this great nation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have set our hand and affixed the great seal of the Cooperative this 25th day of February, 2016.

SEC invites its members to send words of appreciation to ThankALineman@sec.coop or via Facebook, www.facebook.com/SouthsideElectric or by mail to: P.O. Box 7, Crewe, VA 23930, during the month of April. These notes will be shared with SEC employees and members as they are received.

Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) is a not-for-profit, member-owned electric utility that serves over 55,000 homes and businesses in portions of 18 counties in central and southern Virginia. Headquartered in Crewe, SEC has district offices in Altavista, Crewe, Dinwiddie and Powhatan.
