CREWE, Va Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) line crews continue to restore service after strong winds caused widespread outages last night into early this morning.

At the height, over 8000 members were affected. As of 7:30 p.m., 68 members remain without power in 5 of the 18 counties served by SEC, with crews at almost all known locations.

We are monitoring the approaching winter storm system and ask members to make all necessary preparations for a possible major snow event, with continued low temperatures. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for SEC’s service area until Tuesday.

As always, members are urged not to attempt to move downed lines under any circumstances, and should exercise extreme caution around any damaged electrical infrastructure.  Members should report all such damage to the Cooperative or local law enforcement in the event of an emergency.

To report outages to the cooperative, please call toll free 1 (866) 878-5514.  For updates, check the SEC Outage Viewer at
