Thank you for your interest in our “Property Owner Program”. We designed this program to benefit you, the property owner, by ensuring continuous service without interruption between tenants.
By participating in this program, Southside Electric Cooperative agrees to supply power to your vacant rental properties. When a tenant requests a disconnection at a service that is covered by this program, the service will remain on and be placed in your name as of that date. The service will remain in your name until your new tenant notifies us of a change. We feel this will help prevent the possibility of frozen pipes and interruption of water supplies.
Your tenant is responsible for any contact with the office, completed paperwork, any credit references and meter readings needed to open the account. If a tenant fails to contact the office, the specified account will remain in the property owner’s name. Any discrepancies in opening or closing dates are between the property owner and the tenant. We will only transfer service to you when a tenant requests a disconnect. Due to confidentiality, Southside Electric Cooperative cannot contact a property owner if there are credit problems on any account for which a tenant is responsible.
If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact our office Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm at 1-800-552-2118, option 9.
