Outage Alert: 8/29

🚧⚡️🔧Outage Restoration Update (8/30 - 6:00AM) After SEC crews worked throughout the night, new crews are heading out to continue making repairs to the extensive damage caused by last night’s storm. Damage causing power outages include wide spread lightning strikes affecting multiple circuits as well as multiple poles being broken by a barn roof blowing into lines. Contractors are confirmed in supporting continued restoration efforts.

Due to the extent of damages, restoration efforts are estimated to go into late afternoon - around 6pm this evening for some members. We ask that members plan accordingly. SEC crews and contractors will work until power has been restored to all members, keeping safety a top priority.

Safety reminders during an outage:
• Never approach a downed power line. Always assume a downed power line is live and dangerous!
• If using a portable generator, be sure to closely follow manufacturers’ directions for installation and operation - only operate outside of the home.
• When temperatures are warm, help stay cool by closing blinds to limit extra heat from sunlight in the house, limit the use of the oven for cooking, and be sure to drink plenty of fluids and wear light/loose-fitting clothing.
