Downed Lines Submission Form - CAUTION: Downed power lines are extremely dangerous.
Even if they don’t look like they’re sparking or moving, they could still be live and carry deadly electricity. Best Practices for Staying Safe ✅ Stay far away — at least 30 feet. That’s about the length of a school bus. Electricity can travel through the ground, especially if it’s wet. ✅ Don’t touch anything nearby. That includes fences, puddles, trees, or vehicles — electricity can jump. ✅ Keep others away. Warn neighbors, kids, and pets to stay back until the area is safe. ✅ If a power line falls on your car, stay inside. The car protects you like a shield. Only get out if there’s a fire — and if you must exit, jump out with both feet together, without touching the car and the ground at the same time, and shuffle away. What NOT to Do 🚫 Don’t drive over downed lines. Even if they look harmless, they could be live. 🚫 Don’t try to move the line. Only trained crews should handle downed power lines. 🚫 Don’t assume power is off. Just because your power is out doesn’t mean the line isn’t live. Staying safe around downed power lines can save lives. When in doubt — stay back, stay safe, and call for help!
