SEC lineworkers perform hundreds of repairs every year under energized conditions and do so all while the members’ lights stay on.
A planned outage is a scheduled power interruption that SEC creates to allow crews to safely perform maintenance, upgrades, or repairs when energized work cannot be done in a safe manner. This helps prevent future outages, improves reliability, and keeps lineworkers safe while they work on the electrical system
SEC notifies affected members in advance through automated phone calls or emails. We provide details about the outage, including the date, time, and estimated duration, so members can prepare accordingly.
To ensure you receive notifications from SEC, always ensure that your contact information is up to date.
If you or someone in your household has a serious medical condition that requires electricity for essential medical equipment, a Serious Medical Condition Form can be submitted to have this noted on your account. This form ensures that our cooperative is aware of your medical needs in the event of planned outages (scheduled maintenance or system upgrades) only. We will notify affected members in advance of planned outages; however, this does not guarantee uninterrupted service. It is important to have a backup power source or emergency plan in place.
