As Tropical Storm Ophelia continues to move across the Southside service territory, SEC continues to be Here For You and provide updates for our members.

National Weather Service forecast

• Heavy rain and windy conditions through early Sunday.

• The highest rainfall is forecasted to be along and east of I-95.

• Much of SEC's service area is under a flood watch until 7 a.m. Sunday.

• The storm will have wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour.

• SEC is expecting a number of outages into Saturday night.

What SEC is doing

• SEC's warehouses are stocked.

• 17 SEC crews continue restoration work.

• 3 construction crews and 3 tree crews help with restoration.

• 8 additional two-man contract crews are arriving later today.

Saturday Morning Update 

Tropical Storm Ophelia is bringing large amounts of heavy rain and high winds to the Southside VA area. Wind gusts will increase throughout the day and into the evening. Please be prepared for potential multi-day outages.

Our crews are working to restore power throughout the storm as quickly and as safely as possible. As always, we appreciate your patience as we assess and repair storm damage.
