CREWE, VA – Crews from Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) continue to work with
mutual-aid and contract crews to restore power outages after two winter storms brought a deluge
of ice to the cooperative’s 18 county service territory.
“We are pleased to report that our teams restored power to 3,490 members since 5:00 PM
yesterday,” said Jeff Edwards, CEO. “We know our members are frustrated, and we are doing
absolutely everything we can to get their lights back on as safely and quickly as possible.”
6,710 SEC members remain without power. At its peak, the outage impacted 48,000 members
across SEC service territory. More than 900 line workers are in the field as restoration effort
continues.
