Brenda Hicks Johnson

Brenda Hicks Johnson represents District 3 members on the Southside Electric Cooperative Board of Directors.

Mrs. Johnson, who lives in Amelia County, has been a SEC member since 2006. She joined the Cooperative board in 2016.

“I am truly blessed to be able to return to my roots and be an integral part of the community. When asked by a former SEC board member to serve on the board, I did not hesitate to accept the opportunity. My mother had served for 25 years on the board, and she had shared with me some of the opportunities and challenges of the position. I have spent most of my adult life in some type of non-profit board leadership role and felt qualified to serve in this capacity. Working in the best interest of our members is a challenging and rewarding opportunity,” Mrs. Johnson says.

Mrs. Johnson has spent more than 40 years working in human resources. Since 2012, she has worked part time as a human resources generalist for a small Japanese-owned manufacturing plant in Chesterfield. During her career, she worked for Sears and Dominion Virginia Power and retired from McKesson Corporation, a medical surgical supply company, in 2010.

She was a 1974 cum laude graduate of Virginia State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

Mrs. Johnson is a member and secretary of the Amelia County Electoral Board, member of the Amelia Democratic Committee, member and treasurer of the Russell Grove Association and an active member at Liberty Baptist Church in Amelia, where she is chair of the Trustee Ministry, church treasurer, and member of the Women’s Ministry and Ushers’ Ministries. She is also a charter member of the Pi Rho Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. in Chesterfield.

She and husband Graham have been married 45 years and have two adult sons, Marcus and Daryl, and two granddaughters, Kadin and Marri.

Mrs. Johnson enjoys traveling, bowling, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
