Statement From your President and CEO Jeff Edwards regarding the Coronavirus Pandemic and the Suspension of residential service disconnects:

At Southside Electric Cooperative, we are fully committed to meeting the electrical needs of all our members; in addition, our responsibility is for the safety and welfare of our valued members and the communities we serve. During this time of uncertainty, due to the effects of the Coronavirus outbreak, we join our fellow Virginia Electric Cooperatives in recognizing the hardships that this extraordinary public health crisis imposes on our member-owners. Out of concern for our member-owners and their communities, and in keeping with the cooperative principle of “Concern for Community” we are immediately waiving service disconnects and penalty fees for our residential member-owners at this time and while continuing to diligently work with our business, commercial, and industrial member-owners to mitigate the impact of the state of emergency until further notice.

Southside Electric Cooperative realizes it is our responsibility to maintain your electrical service to the high standards that our Members deserve and that’s what your Cooperative will do as we all get through this current challenge together. Thank you for the humbling opportunity to serve your rural electrical needs.
