Winter Storm Harlow Alert

SEC Stands Ready

Winter Storm Harlow is expected to move into Virginia starting Tuesday, continuing through Wednesday morning, bringing wet snow, ice, and freezing rain. Forecasts predict that areas of SEC service territory to see the biggest impacts are western counties (Bedford, Pittsylvania, Campbell) stretching East into central counties (Prince Edward, Nottoway, Lunenburg). We are keeping our eyes on the weather and monitoring our systems closely. WE STAND READY and encourage members to plan in the case that outages potentially occur.

How is SEC prepared?

  • SEC crews will be staged, starting Tuesday morning, patrolling and monitoring poles and lines.
  • Additional contractors & crews from Volunteer Electric Cooperative and Duck River Electric of TN, Carolina Power and Lee Electric, Townsend Tree Service, Ashwell’s, and Rocky Creek Tree Service are confirmed to be on-site and ready to assist.
  • Trucks, equipment and supply warehouses across SEC’s four districts are stocked.
  • Plans are in place to respond to any outages as safely and quickly as.
